Clippers mount major rally to win 11-7
It was a long night at the ballpark and Columbus rallied for a 11-7 victory against the Rochester Red Wings.
After sweeping a doubleheader against Rochester yesterday, the Clippers and the Red Wings were back at it again at Frontier Field in the State of New York.
After an hour and 49 minutes of rain delay, the game finally began. It would be the Red Wings down to a fast start. Luke Hughes distinguished with a withdrawal. This was followed by a walk Rene Tosoni.The big deal would come off the bat of Jeff Bailey, who clubbed a three-run shot off Mitch Talbot of Columbus starter in left field to give Rochester a 3-0 early advantage.
The Red Wings are still rough up Talbot in the second inning. After a double by Brian Dinkleman, Rene Rivera doubled to left field to drive home and make Dinkleman 4-0 Red Wings. After a groundout Toby Gardenhire, it would be 5-0 when the next batter Rochester, Brandon Roberts, pointed to the middle to knock on Rivera.
The Clippers will get on the board at the top of the third round. Jared Goedert doubled to lead off the frame.After a strikeout by Paul Phillips, Tim Fedroff was able to put the ball in play and Goedert drive home with a shortstop with the RBI groundout that the Red Wings 5-1 at that point.
The Red Wings would get that run back and then some in the bottom of the third. After Jeff Bailey and Dustin Martin led off the inning with singles, Chase Lambin finger to the box to drive home Bailey, extending the lead to 6-1 Rochester.
More offense would come to Rochester in the bottom of the fourth. Brandon Roberts was hit by a pitch to start the frame.The next batter, Luke Hughes doubled to left field, allowing Roberts to score to increase the Red Wings lead to 7-1.
Columbus would have cut the lead in the top of the fifth. Jared Goedert finger at the middle with one out. Paul Phillips followed with a single of his own, allowing Goedert to advance to third.
